Blog Post 2 - Elli Rande

1. Give us a project update! How’s it been going? What are you planning on? Any upcoming events?

Overall, my project is going well. Currently, I am focusing on outreach and preparing supplies for the event day. I have hit some obstacles with outreach, but I hope to resolve issues with the Marine Bio club. The beach clean-up is scheduled for May 16th.

2. Did you attend the BAYCS Earth Day Festival? How was it?

I attended the festival, it was really fun! Getting the opportunity to see everyone in person, along with their projects and how they approach climate activism, was very interesting. At first, I was a bit nervous presenting my project. However, as the festival went on, I got more comfortable speaking about my project and got a better sense of what information I wanted to include and how to answer people’s questions. 

3. Reflect on what you have learned over the past 10 weeks and what you wrote for Blog 1. Did you accomplish what you initially thought you would? 

Although my beach clean-up has not taken place yet, I gained a lot of organizational skills through planning it. I improved at writing emails, designing flyers, and strengthening my problem-solving skills.
